Angelina Jolie Donates $100,000 to the UN Refugee Agency

Angelina Jolie World Refugee Day
Tabloids don’t call her St. Ange for nothing: Angelina Jolie recently cut a $100,000 check to the U.N. Refugee Agency. The funds will help support the organization’s work with Syrian refugees, according to E! Online.

Yesterday, in honor of World Refugee Day, the actress-turned-activist released a statement to raise awareness of refugees’ plight. “The international community should rededicate itself to preventing conflict, addressing it when it erupts and solving it more quickly, for that is the only way to create durable solutions for the refugees whose strength inspires us on this World Refugee Day,” she said. “Every individual refugee matters. Each has their own story. Each has suffered and survived more than I could ever bear. And yet, they rise to live another day.”

How do you think Angelina Jolie’s involvement with the U.N. Refugee Agency has affected the public’s awareness of the organization and its mission?
