In the year 2012, current gigs as The X Factor judges are the cherries on the cake for singers-actresses Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.
Both ladies have publicly endured some trying times over the past few years (Lovato completed rehab for emotional and physical issues and Spears, well, we all remember).
2012 has brought happier times, though.
Even though aspects of her personal and professional life is still heavily monitored (the pop star is still under conservatorship), Spears continues to flourish. VH1 ranked Spears 11th on its 2012 “100 Greatest Women in Music” list and Forbes listed her as the 6th most powerful celebrity and the 3rd highest paid musician of 2011-12
Dovato’s also had a banner year. In addition to accompanying Spears on the VH1 list, Lovato released her biggest radio single to day (“Give Your Heart a Break”) back in January, was nominated for and won the “Best Video With a Message” category at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards for “Skyscraper,” and is expected to release the first single off her 4th album in November.
Now, since their The X Factor judging debuts, Spears and Lovato are flourishing even more.
Fellow judge Simon Cowell, who’s rarely happy with anyone, has noted that Spears is “fearless” and he’s “grown to like her a lot” (even if she is a little “mean”), and even goes so far as to claim former Disney co-star Christina Aguilera could “learn something” by watching. As for Lovato, Cowell admits he finds her annoying (shock!) but her rebellious, risk-taking behavior make her ideal for the show.
After years (several, in Spears’ case) of disheartening news, isn’t it nice to see these two ladies healthy, happy, and succeeding?
Yes!
You can see for yourself tonight when The X Factor airs on FOX at 8 p.m. EST.
In the meantime, how have these two stars – or others – inspired you? Tell us about a time when you felt hopeless about your current situation or future, only to see and be encouraged by others who’d been in similar situations but are now thriving.
