Megan Ellison: Kathryn Bigelow 'Robbed' By Oscar Voters (Exclusive)

Megan Ellison is ripped that Kathryn Bigelow was left off the list of Best Director Academy Awards nominees Thursday.

The "Zero Dark Thirty" producer took to Twitter to vent her frustration about an Oscar snub that shocked many Hollywood players.

"Kathryn Bigelow was robbed. So f---ed up. #recount," Ellison tweeted.

A spokeswoman for Ellison confirmed that the account belonged to the producer, but declined to comment.

The film has received critical praise, but has also stirred controversy for its portrayal of the role that torture may have played in the C.I.A'.s decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden.

It's not that "Zero Dark Thirty" was shut out entirely. The film scored five Academy Award nominations, including one for Ellison, Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal for their work producing the fact-based thriller.

Bigelow's exclusion caught many by surprise, however. She had been nominated for a Director's Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award, but found herself shut out in favor of surprise nominees Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") and Michael Haneke ("Amour"). As expected, Ang Lee ("Life of Pi"), Steven Spielberg ("Lincoln") and David O. Russell were all nominated in the category.

Ellison, the daughter of Oracle Corporation CEO Larry Ellison, runs Annapurna Pictures and has established a reputation as a champion of filmmakers who are more focused on artistic achievement than the commercial bottom line. Among the films she has produced are "True Grit" and "The Master."
