Kate Middleton’s First Official Portrait Revealed

(PCM) The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Portrait Gallery on Friday for the unveiling of Kate’s first official portrait.

The painting was done by award-winning artist Paul Emsley. He painted the Duchess against a black background with her hair framing her face and a closed mouth smile.

Emsley said Kate wanted “to convey her natural self as opposed to her official self.”

Kate sat for Emsley twice, once in May and once in June. It took him 3 1/2 months to paint the portrait from photos he took of the Duchess.

“I thought it was brilliant,” Kate said of the painting.

William liked the portrait as well saying, “It’s absolutely beautiful.”

The royal couple was pleased with the painting, but it is receiving some not so positive critiques from the public.

What do you think of Kate’s portrait?
