For those of you who’re watching the final season of MTV’s Jersey Shore, you’ve probably noticed – especially during the last few episodes – that the blast in a glass herself, Deena Cortese, isn’t having such a blast this time around.
Deena began the sixth and final season of Jersey Shore a little shaky: She missed her new boyfriend, Chris Buckner, and she missed her meatball, Snooki (Nicole Polizzi appears on the final season, but aside from the occasional sober trip to Karma, the then-pregnant 24-year-old pretty much avoids the party scene).
During an attempt to keep things as normal as possible, Deena decides to go do a little day drinking at the Shore, where she dances, auditions substitute meatballs, and, after staggering around in the middle of the street, gets arrested.
After that, things only get worse.
She fights with her roommates about her behavior (specifically, her complaints about being unhappy and constant threats to leave the house) and is, at least during the last episode, on the verge of leaving the house (unfortunately, not as gracefully as fellow cast member Vinny Guadagnino did last season who, by the way, seems to be one of the least supportive of her right now, surprisingly).
We still have several episodes to go, of course, but for Deena filming is over and she’s had time to reflect on her time during the show’s final season, telling Yahoo! omg! it was a “really hard season”:
I didn’t have Nicole to drink and go out with, and that was always my go-to girl in the house, and I didn’t have her anymore, and on top of that, I missed my boyfriend. I was just going through, like, a lot. And the roommates — you’ll see in the later episodes — now they’re making fun of me. It was just like a really hard season. Honestly, I probably shouldn’t have even went into the house [this season], but it is what it is, and it shows. I was having a really hard time.
Although we haven’t seen beyond last week’s episode, fortunately Deena assures viewers she didn’t have a completely miserable time filming the show:
They really just showed some of my hard times, especially up until Episode 8. But after that, I was having a good time; they just didn’t really show my good times.
In the meantime, things are definitely looking up. According to Deena, she and Chris, who recently got a puppy (pictured) together, are doing great (much better than the show portrayed: “We have a great relationship, and he loves the way way I am”), she’s working on her hair product and clothing lines (Wisper and Shore Couture, respectively), and she’s giving back to the community by getting involved in the Hurricane Sandy cleanup efforts.
