Sports Illustrated Model Kate Upton Volunteers in Brooklyn: 17 Charitable Celebrities (GALLERY)

Model Kate Upton hung up her bikini for a good cause this week to help professional skateboarder Chaz Ortiz and about thirty adolescents clean up Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park.

Known for gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated and donning sexy bikinis, the 20-year-old model looked equally beautiful in a simple black blouse and pastel pink skinnies.

But did she forget something?

Upton may not have chosen the best footwear for the charitable event — she wore sandals — but she managed to take it all in stride.

“Hey, at least I’m not wearing heels!” she jokingly told ESPN.

Upton also took time to explain her desire to give back to the community.

“I love being able to work with kids who have disadvantages and work together and make this a better community,” she said.

But she didn’t just give back.  Upton was able to take a little, too: She got a free skateboard lesson by Ortiz, 18, in return for her civic duties.

“I can’t skateboard at all. I’m afraid of even stepping my foot on one. Maybe Chaz can give me a few pointers.”

Obviously, he obliged. He even gave her a free Zoo York board to take home.

The event was organized by Stoked Mentoring and skateboard brand Zoo York.

Of course, Kate Upton isn’t the only celebrity to give back to the community. Click through our gallery to see other charitable celebs.
