Behold, the first image of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent in Disney’s upcoming “retelling” of “Sleeping Beauty” has been released. This shot shows Maleficent’s signature horns (see below), and it’s good to see that Disney stayed true to their original aesthetic.
Celebitchy notes that Elle Fanning will play Princess Aurora, and that Disney will film the movie in England for a March 2014 release.
Like “Snow White and the Huntsman” and fairy-tale remakes of its ilk, “Sleeping Beauty” will be a dark retelling of the classic. Are you looking forward to seeing it in theaters?
