Facebook Buys TagTile in Continuing Bid to Own Everything

Facebook has continued its acquisition frenzy Thursday by purchasing San Francisco-based company TagTile.

TagTile announced the merger on its website in a post that read, "Today, we are happy to announce that we are joining Facebook, and that they are acquiring substantially all of our assets."

TagTile provides businesses with a piece of hardware called the TagTile cube (pictured) that their customers can tap their phones with. Customers can then "share their enjoyment of your business with the tap of a button." Merchants, meanwhile, can track their customer bases and send custom offers directly to their phones.

Thursday's acquisition came just days after Facebook purchased the photo-sharing application Instagram for about $1 billion.

It is not known how much Facebook paid for TagTile. Facebook has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.
