Tom Ford is making news for...a variety of reasons this week. On the plus side, he's just made Time magazine's list of the year's 100 greatest influences. Rita Wilson, who walked in Ford's first women's wear show, wrote that the designer is a "closet comedian, who can keenly copy an expression, person or walk...Tom has manners that are rare these days."
On the more peculiar side, a Canadian used-car advertisement featuring his image has been banned. Salesman Dale Wurfel declined comment on the ad, which featured the tagline "You know you're not the first. But do you really care?" We doubt Ford released the rights to use the image, but his camp has remained quiet as to whether he filed a lawsuit over it.
